The Christian Emergency League (“CEL”) is a Christian association of churches, pastors and congregants who believe in the eternally existing one true God of the Bible. The one true God is the Creator of heaven and earth, the Savior of all people, and the Life-Giver who alone is worthy to be praised and worshipped.
In the unity of the Godhead, there are three Persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20). All three Persons of the Godhead have unique personalities and functions yet exist in perfect unity and harmony.
The ultimate goal of this association is to bring glory to the name of Jesus Christ by actively choosing to seek first His Kingdom (Matthew 6:33).
-
CEL believes that there is one mediator between God and man, the Man Jesus Christ. Thus, we cannot pray to God except through this Mediator, Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:5).
-
CEL believes that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Grace by definition must not include any works when referring to justification before a holy God (Ephesians 2:8-9).
-
CEL believes that all men are of one race and born sinners, and the fall of man is the source of guilt, not one’s culture or the past actions of one’s culture (Ezekiel 18).
-
CEL believes that God created man, male and female. It is not possible to change one’s sex. Marriage is the lawful joining together of one man and one woman (Genesis 1:26-27).
-
CEL believes in the bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 1:7).
-
CEL believes that all souls will live forever, those saved, to eternal bliss, and those not saved, to eternal punishment in the lake of fire (John 3:16; Revelation 20:15).
-
CEL recognizes that Christians are to be peaceful citizens (1 Timothy 2:2), but that we cannot be content to be silent citizens. Jesus Christ calls us to be salt and light amid a decaying and dark nation (Matthew 5:13-16).
-
CEL believes that the Bible is the infallible and inspired Word of God. Therefore, it provides the ultimate standard for the laws and norms that people, churches, states, and nations must follow (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
-
CEL recognizes that all authority comes from God. Civil rulers are not free to do whatever they or the electorate determine, but are bound to follow what God has revealed to the ministers of God (Romans 13:1-7).
